1. Follow many visitors on a walk up the tourist path to the top of Britain's highest mountain - Ben Nevis (4,406ft - 1344m). Take advice on conditions before undertaking the ascent.

2. Enjoy one of the most scenic railway routes in Scotland on the Jacobite Steam Train on the West Highland line, Fort William to Mallaig.
The West Highland line was rated as "the best in the world" by a recent survey.

3. Glenfinnan is only 12 miles from Fort William and hosts one of the most scenic views in Lochaber. The National Trust tells the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie's raising of the standard in 1745. Visitors are invited to climb the monument and enjoy the magnificent view down Loch Sheil.
Arrive at 10.45 and watch the steam train cross the famous viaduct (Hogworts Express, in the Harry potter film, was shot here).

4. Take a trip up the Nevis Range gondola. There are two short walks from the top station with magnificent views. The Snowgoose Mountain Restaurant is at the top station, 2,200ft(650m).
During the winter months Nevis Range is our local Ski centre offering the full range of winter snow sports and is a Mecca for mountain bikes throughout the year.

5. Sail on the day ferry from Arisaig or Mallaig and explore the Island of Rhum (one of the famous small isles) and visit the hidden treasure of Kinloch Castle - castle tours are arranged to fit in with the ferry timetable.

6. Enjoy a short walk in the beautiful Glen Nevis and discover the walk at the head of the glen through to a hanging valley dominated by Steall Falls (one of the Scotland's most dramatic waterfalls). Allow 2 hours.
There is a range of forestry walks in the Glen which is one of the most beautiful in Scotland.

7. Watch the boats navigate the 8 canal locks known as Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian Canal at Banavie where you will also enjoy the best views of the north face of Ben Nevis.
The canal links the sea at Fort William with the North Sea at Inverness, was partially openned in 1822 and is a show piece of British engineering.

8. Bring your Bikes or hire them locally and have fun on the Witches Trail, on the championship downhill track at Nevis Range or the cross country tracks through Leanachan Forest. All based at Nevis Range.

9. Visit the National Trust Visitor Centre at Glencoe and understand the "Massacre of Glencoe of1692." Glencoe is a paradise to walkers and climbers.
You can also enjoy the short Glencoe Lochan walk or a walk through the slate quarries nearby.

10. In Fort William the Ben Nevis distillery has a visitor centre and in Corpach, round the bay, there is the visitor attraction Treasures of the Earth. Both well worth a visit.
