Ballachulish sits at the top end of Loch Leven. It was by the Ballachulish Bridge, that connects the north and south ends of the village, that James of the Glen was wrongfully hanged in 1752 for the murder of Colin Campbell, a government factor.
This true story was made famous by Robert Louis stevenson in his book Kidnapped - which was filmed in the area in 1960. The bridge and the beautiful Loch Leven were also featured in the BBC Scotland's series Rockface. Catch me a Spy was also filmed here.
